Mission:

Estes Park Patriots for Peace creatively promotes alternatives to violence and war, and supports individual and community actions to build a culture of peace.

Description:

Our group formed in 2003 as local citizens gathered in silent prayer vigils for peace before the start of the war in Iraq. We are veterans, homemakers, business owners, teachers, students, clergy, and retirees -- your friends and neighbors in Estes Park, Colorado. Our programs include community education through films, discussions, guest speakers, forums and the arts. We believe we must use peaceful means to bring about peace in our world. We encourage greater activism to affect attitudes and actions promoting a peaceful future.

We sponsor a weekly peace vigil, a monthly meeting to review and plan our actions, and usually a monthly film and discussion or other special community event. See calendar listings.

We believe it is our patriotic duty to speak up in the face of actions which betray the founding principles of our country. We believe loyal opposition is the mark of a patriot, and principled dissent the obligation of every American citizen. We believe the voices and actions of concerned citizens can bring positive changes!

Purpose:

The purpose of our group is to develop and carry out educational and charitable community awareness programs which build a culture of peace. We are a non-profit, non-partisan, grass-roots, community-based organization open to all interested persons. We work with other peace, justice and veterans’ groups to achieve non-violent social change in Larimer County, Colorado and beyond.
